Galaxy Salt Mineralizing Detox Bath Soak (An Herbivore CALM Copycat Recipe)
This is a kinda sorta copycat recipe. All the elements are there, warm and floral fragrances, relaxing and mineralizing components, the detox power of natural clays… really, everything is the same except the color scheme. I chose grey over pink. Mostly, because I love French grey salt, but the subtle detoxifying power pink clay was hard to pass up for the more conventional, albeit stronger, bentonite clay. Salt (not table salt, natural salt) has some pretty impressive benefits beyond just the exfoliating you get from the granules and the scrubbing motion. It also remineralizing skin, assists in keeping a healthy pH, reduces bloating and swelling (yep, you read that right), detoxifies, and it’s even an antiseptic. So, while it’s undeniable that a warm salt bath will help you unwind after a long day, it may also keep you healthier overall—just a little something to think about while you soak in the tub.
“Sea salt is laden with minerals, including magnesium, calcium, sodium, and potassium, all of which play a key role in our skin's health, function, and cellular communication. When your skin's mineral balance is off-kilter, symptoms such as dryness, dullness, irritation, and blotchiness ensue.” - Women’s Health
“Quality sea salt and unheated rock salt kill pathogens, detoxify the skin, and absorb dirt and grime. salt deeply purifies and cleanses your pores without aggravating the microbiome of the skin.” - Alitura Health
Here’s what You’ll Need:
Galaxy Salt Mineralizing Detox Bath Soak
(An Herbivore CALM Copycat Recipe)
Good for about 3 baths
1 cup of grey salt
2 tablespoons of bentonite clay
15 drops vanilla
5 drops ylang ylang
in a large Bowl mix up Bentonite clay and grey salt.
Tip: natural salts Tend to be a little bit sticky. so the clay should stick nicely to it. If it’s not sticking add a 1/2 tablespoon of carrier oil or water to blend
Add in your Essential oils
Pour about 1/3 of the mixture into a hot bath
Store in an airtight jar until ready to use again
Just a note, bentonite clay is a little bit sticky and will bind to slick surfaces when you add water to it. I recommend rinsing or wiping you tub after using.
